OPS-Code 8-528.8:

Radiotherapy: Radiation simulation for external irradiation and brachytherapy: Site identification with simulator, without 3D planning

A simulation was carried out for your treatment with radiation.

Treatment with radiation is also called radiotherapy. The purpose of radiotherapy is to destroy diseased tissue with radiation. The surrounding healthy tissue needs to be protected as much as possible. For this reason, the sites that are to be treated with radiation are planned out very precisely before radiotherapy begins.

A special machine was used to test out the best procedure for your radiotherapy. This is also known as a simulation. The areas of your body to be treated with radiotherapy were defined as part of the planning process. The aim is to ensure that your radiotherapy will be as precise and safe as possible for you.

Additional indicator

If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
