Can I redeem an e-prescription without a smartphone?
Yes, you can also have your e-prescription printed out for you at the doctor's practice with the prescription code and bring it with you to the pharmacy in paper form. From 2023, it will also be possible to redeem e-prescriptions using the electronic medical data card.

Who can access e-prescription data?
An e-prescription can only be accessed by someone who has the prescription code. This may be the insured person, someone acting on their behalf, or the pharmacy.
E-prescriptions are sent by the doctor's practice in encrypted format, saved, processed and encrypted again when accessed by the pharmacy. This protects e-prescriptions from unauthorized access.

Is data about user behavior recorded when using the e-prescription app?
Only anonymously and only if you provide your consent. If you consent, the data transmitted includes: session duration, actions (e.g., Cancel buttons), information about the operating system and the device. The information helps the development team to detect and eliminate vulnerabilities. It is not shared with third parties.

What should I do if I lose my phone?
Once they have been filled by the pharmacy, all e-prescriptions are stored for 100 days in the telematics infrastructure. During this period, you can download the e-prescriptions to another device using the e-prescription app.

E-prescriptions are electronically signed when they are issued. The pharmacy verifies this signature when dispensing the drugs.

The e-prescription app from gematik is the only app that can be used by insured persons to digitally receive electronic prescriptions. It allows them to manage their saved e-prescriptions securely in the telematics infrastructure and to redeem them digitally at a pharmacy of their choice.
