ICD-Code D68.9: Coagulation defect, unspecified

Your blood clotting is impaired.

Blood clotting is controlled by many different proteins in the blood. If there are too few or too many of these proteins present, blood clotting can be disrupted. Drugs, antibodies and toxins can also alter blood clotting.

If the blood clots too slowly, bleeding occurs more easily. Wounds bleed for longer in this case. If the blood clots too quickly, clumps of clotted blood may form inside the blood vessels. These clumps are called blood clots.
