ICD-Code I45.0: Right fascicular block
The heart’s electrical activity is not spreading normally to your ventricles.
The heart pumps blood through the body. Inside the heart are 4 chambers. There are 2 heart atria and 2 ventricles. Both heart atria and both ventricles are separated from each other by a partition. The electrical currents flow through the heart. The heart's electrical activity causes the heart muscle to contract. It begins at a site in your right atrium. Initially the electrical activity spreads to both atria. The electrical activity then flows on via a sort of cable to the ventricles.
The electrical impulses should reach both the left and right ventricles at almost the same time. This is important for the synchronized contraction of both ventricles. The cable through which the electrical impulses flow distributes the impulses between the ventricles. There are two cables for the left ventricle and one cable for the right ventricle.
In your case, the electrical currents are no longer flowing through the cable for the right ventricle. If the impulses stop flowing through the cables, they spread to the ventricles in other ways. This can have an impact on how quickly and how regularly the heart beats.
Additional indicator
On medical documents, the ICD code is often appended by letters that indicate the diagnostic certainty or the affected side of the body.
- G: Confirmed diagnosis
- V: Tentative diagnosis
- Z: Condition after
- A: Excluded diagnosis
