Das Wochenbett-Fieber ist eine Erkrankung, die nach der Geburt eines Kindes auftreten kann. Dabei entzündet sich die Gebärmutter. Die Entzündung kann zu Fieber und Schmerzen im Bauch führen. Die Entzündung kann sich auch weiter im Bauch ausbreiten. Wenn sich die Entzündung noch weiter ausbreitet, kann man eine Blutvergiftung bekommen.
Bei einer Blutvergiftung ist man sehr krank. Möglicherweise ist man verwirrt und schläfrig. Man kann Fieber und einen sehr schnellen Herzschlag haben. Auch die Atmung kann schneller sein als normalerweise. Eine Blutvergiftung kann Auswirkungen auf viele Organe im Körper haben. So kann es zum Beispiel sein, dass die Nieren nicht mehr ausreichend Urin bilden können.
