Sie haben eine angeborene Fehlbildung, bei der viele Hohlräume mit Flüssigkeit in den Nieren sind.
Im Körper gibt es normalerweise 2 Nieren. Sie filtern das Blut und bilden den Urin. So helfen sie, den Körper zu entgiften. Außerdem regeln die Nieren unter anderem den Blutdruck und den Gehalt an Mineralstoffen im Blut.
Wenn man Hohlräume in den Nieren hat, dann können die Nieren größer als normal sein. Das normale Nieren-Gewebe kann durch die Hohlräume verdrängt werden. Dadurch kann es sein, dass die Nieren nicht mehr richtig arbeiten.
Man kann Schmerzen oben im Bauch und im Rücken oder Bluthochdruck haben. Möglicherweise sind auch andere Organe verändert.
