ICD-Code T17.0: Foreign body in nasal sinus

You have one or more foreign bodies in your paranasal sinuses.

The paranasal sinuses are air-filled cavities in the skull. They are each connected to the nasal cavity via an opening that forms the inside of the nose. The paranasal sinuses are lined internally with mucous membrane. There are four different paranasal sinuses.

Different types of foreign bodies can get into the paranasal sinuses. A foreign body may be a mucous plug, for example. Foreign bodies may also be objects, however.

Foreign bodies in the paranasal sinuses can cause various symptoms. For example, the foreign body may make breathing more difficult. You may also have a sudden need to sneeze. If foreign bodies remain in the paranasal sinuses for a long time, this can result in inflammation.
