Various drugs are used to suppress appetite.A drug can cause poisoning if, for example, too much of it is taken. The drug may also be administered or taken by mistake.

The symptoms can vary depending on which appetite suppressant has caused the poisoning. Many of these drugs put the body into a kind of state of alert. This can cause problems with the heart, with breathing or with circulation. For example, the heart may beat too quickly or blood pressure may be too high. Nervousness, outbreaks of sweating and impaired sleep may also occur. You may also have gastrointestinal symptoms.
