Es gibt verschiedene Ursachen, warum man ein Nahrungsmittel nicht verträgt. Es kann zum Beispiel sein, dass man auf das Nahrungsmittel allergisch reagiert. Bei einer Allergie reagiert das Abwehrsystem zu stark auf bestimmte Stoffe. Solche Stoffe können beispielsweise harmlose Stoffe aus der Umwelt, Medikamente oder bestimmte Chemikalien sein. Es kann sein, dass man Herzrasen bekommt oder die Haut im Gesicht plötzlich gerötet und warm ist. Es sind auch andere Beschwerden möglich, wenn man ein Nahrungsmittel nicht verträgt.
