ICD-Code T82.75: Infection and inflammatory reaction due to port

You have an inflammation caused by an implanted port system.

Blood vessels transport the blood from the heart to the different tissues and organs in the body, and back again. In so doing, they provide the tissue and organs with oxygen and nutrients, and remove waste substances.

You have had a port system implanted. A port system consists of a small chamber under the skin and a tube leading into a blood vessel. The port is inserted during a minor procedure. The chamber can be accessed from the outside through the skin using a needle. A tube inserted into blood vessels can be used for tasks such as drawing blood, injecting medication, or administering fluids to the body. This type of tube can sometimes remain in the body for a long time.

When material is inserted into the body, it can cause inflammation. For instance, inflammation can be triggered by pathogens.
