Es gibt Erkrankungen, die von den Eltern an das Kind weitergegeben werden können. Diese Erkrankungen nennt man erbliche Erkrankungen. Das Risiko für erbliche Erkrankungen kann beim Kind erhöht sein, wenn miteinander verwandte Personen ein Kind bekommen. Deshalb können verschiedene erbliche Erkrankungen in einer Familie mit Verwandtschafts-Beziehungen häufiger auftreten.
Bei manchen erblichen Erkrankungen kann man nur wenig oder keine Beschwerden haben. Man kann bei anderen erblichen Erkrankungen aber auch schwer krank sein.
