It is important for the blood flow to be completely interrupted. A radioactive substance is used to verify this. The radioactive substance is injected into the blood of the relevant arm or leg and is distributed there. A gamma probe for measuring radiation is then used to verify whether the radioactive substance has flowed in the blood into the rest of the circulatory system.
