You had part of your outer ear surgically reshaped.
The outer ear is the external, visible part of the ear. It consists of cartilage and is covered with skin. The role of the outer ear in hearing is to help us detect the direction from which a sound is coming.
A specific technique was used to increase the surface area of the skin in the region of the outer ear. For this purpose, a type of balloon was inserted under the skin before the surgery itself. This balloon can be expanded gradually. As this happens, the skin stretches around the expanding balloon. The balloon is then removed. The skin that has been stretched can then be used to form the new outer ear.
