OPS-Code 5-881.1:
Other operations on the mamma: Incision in the mamma: Drainage
An incision was made in your breast in order to remove fluid from your breast.
The breast is made up of fatty tissue, connective tissue and the mammary gland. Milk is produced in the mammary gland during and after pregnancy so that the child can be fed.
Fluid may accumulate in the breast following certain illnesses or after surgery. The fluid may consist of pus or blood, for example. When the breast is opened with an incision, this fluid can drain out through the incision. To remove as much fluid as possible, the breast can also be internally cleaned. A plastic part or tube may also be placed in the incision. This keeps the incision open so that the fluid can drain out over an extended period.
