Yes, you can simply redeem the e-prescription with your electronic medical data card. You can also have the prescription printed by the medical practice and redeem it in a pharmacy as usual.

An e-prescription can only be accessed by people with the prescription code. This may be the insured person, someone acting on their behalf or the pharmacy.  

E-prescriptions are sent by the medical practice in encrypted format, saved, processed and encrypted again when accessed by the pharmacy. This protects e-prescriptions from unauthorized access.

Only with your consent and always anonymously. If you consent, the data transmitted includes: session duration, actions (e.g. Cancel buttons), information about the operating system and the device. The information helps the development team to detect and eliminate vulnerabilities. It is not shared with third parties.

Once filled by a pharmacy, all e-prescriptions are deleted from the telematics infrastructure after 100 days. During this period, you can download the e-prescriptions to a new device using the e-prescription app or a health insurer app.

E-prescriptions are electronically signed when they are issued. The pharmacy verifies this signature when dispensing the drugs. In addition, e-prescriptions can only be redeemed once.

E-prescriptions can be redeemed using various apps. The app “Das E-Rezept” from gematik enables people to use all benefits, such as managing e-prescriptions for relatives. Various health insurance funds also offer apps for e-prescriptions. These apps also offer most of the same benefits as the “Das E-Rezept” app.

Pharmacies also provide apps that you can use to redeem e-prescriptions, but they have not been officially tested or approved.
