A95.0: Sylvatic yellow fever
You have yellow fever.
Specific viruses have caused your illness. These viruses are called yellow fever viruses. These viruses are found in Central America and parts of South America and Africa. You get infected in the jungle via a mosquito bite, other people or monkeys.
The progression of the disease is often in 2 stages. A few days after you have been infected, you will probably get shivering, headaches and limb pain. In addition, you may have to vomit. These symptoms usually last for several days. The symptoms often disappear again afterwards.
For some people, the second stage of the illness then begins. In the second stage, the liver and kidneys are severely damaged by the viruses. Sometimes the heart is also damaged. Due to the damage to the liver, the skin can turn a yellow color. You may also have bleeding in the skin and various organs. It is also possible that you will vomit up blood or pass blood in your stools. The kidneys may stop working properly.
