B39.38: Other disseminated histoplasmosis via Histoplasma capsulatum
You have histoplasmosis.
Histoplasmosis is caused by fungi. It occurs in Africa, Asia, Australia and America. Fungi produce resistant spores in order to propagate. Drafts can spread the spores around the environment. The fungal spores may occur in the dust in bat caves, old chicken coops or pigeon's nesting places. You can become ill through inhaling the fungal spores with the dust.
Histoplasmosis can give you fever, a cough and chest pains. The fungi can also cause joint pain and changes to the skin. You may lose your appetite. The illness may also cause symptoms over a long period of time. The fungi have spread through your body in your bloodstream. Lesions may then also occur in the mucous membrane of the digestive tract. The functioning of the adrenal glands may also be impaired. Changes may also occur to bone.
