B66.5: Fasciolopsiasis

You have been diagnosed as having intestinal flukes.

Intestinal flukes occur in South-East Asia. They infect the intestines of pigs. The excrement from infected pigs can contaminate water. You can become infected by drinking such water or eating uncooked aquatic plants.

Intestinal flukes can cause stomach pain, diarrhea and vomiting. If the illness persists, you can lose a lot of weight and retain water. It is also possible that you have no symptoms at all.
