You have cancer in your chest. Thin membranes around the organs are affected.

The tissue in the body is made up of cells. With cancer, the cells multiply uncontrollably, which leads to a malignant neoplasm (abnormal growth of tissue) developing. The cancer cells can destroy the healthy tissue and spread throughout the body.

In your case, the cancer starts from a membrane surrounding the lungs. This thin membrane helps the organs to glide past each other better.

This type of cancer in the chest can develop as a result of contact with asbestos.
