D36.0: Benign neoplasm: Lymph nodes
You have abnormal tissue in the lymph nodes. The tissue is benign.
When there is abnormal growth of tissue in an organ, then this is referred to as a tumor. The tissue in the body is made up of cells. A tumor disorder involves the cells multiplying more than normal. This results in abnormal or excess tissue forming. A tumor can be benign or malignant. Benign tumors do not destroy the healthy tissue and do not spread throughout the body.
The lymph nodes are small bean-shaped objects. They are found throughout the body. Lymph nodes filter the tissue fluid. They are part of the defense system. If you have a tumor in the lymph nodes, then the lymph nodes can be larger or harder than normal. The lymph nodes may then be painful. Often there are no symptoms.
