You have a congenital condition that means your immune system is impaired.

The immune system protects the body from pathogens and foreign substances. The immune system can also destroy cells in the body that have pathologically changed. The body's immune system is made up of different types of immune cells. Some immune cells can destroy pathogens or foreign bodies themselves. Other immune cells produce certain antibodies.

With this condition, either you do not have enough immune cells or your immune cells are unable to work properly. If the number or function of your immune cells is impaired, you may be unable to properly combat various pathogens. Such pathogens may be bacteria, viruses or fungi. The pathogens can then cause repeated infections, such as respiratory illnesses. With this condition there may be other symptoms, too.
