E16.4: Abnormal secretion of gastrin

You have too many specific messenger substances (hormones) in your blood.

You have too much of the messenger substance gastrin in your blood. The messenger substance gastrin has various effects in the gastrointestinal region. For example, the messenger substance increases the creation of gastric acid.

If you have too much of the messenger substance in your blood, too much gastric acid may be created. As a result, you may have heartburn. The mucous membrane in the stomach may become severely inflamed. Sometimes you can also have diarrhea.

You may often have too much of the messenger substance gastrin in your blood if specific tissue is being regenerated. That can occur in the pancreas or small intestine, for example.
