E31.0: Autoimmune polyglandular failure

You have too few messenger substances (hormones) in your body, because several glands are not working properly.

There are various glands in the body that produce messenger substances. The glands release these messenger substances into the blood. Messenger substances have many important tasks in the body. For example, they regulate the blood pressure, heartbeat or sugar level in the blood. If messenger substances in the body have changed, the skin and hair may also be changed. The height may be changed as well. Glands that produce messenger substances are for instance the thyroid gland, pancreas and ovaries or testicles. In your case, two or more glands are not working correctly.

The cause of your disease is that your immune system is attacking the glands. As a result, your glands are no longer able to work properly. Your glands are producing too few messenger substances or none at all. Because you have too few messenger substances in your body, you probably have various symptoms.
