E65: Localized adiposity

Fat has been stored at certain places in your body.

There are various reasons why you might store more fat. For example, you may consume food that is too high in energy. If you do not use the energy that you eat, then the energy is stored as fat. Certain drugs can also contribute to more fat being stored. There are diseases or congenital causes that lead to fat storage.

The excess fatty tissue has numerous effects on the body. Various diseases are encouraged as a result. So for example, diabetes may develop more easily or the blood vessels can become constricted by deposits. The stored fat can also have psychological effects. You may be unhappy with your appearance. The stored fat may cause skin folds at the various sites. Pathogens can easily multiply under the skin folds. As a result, the skin may become inflamed.
