G12.1: Other inherited spinal muscular atrophy
You have a nerve condition. As a result, you cannot move your muscles properly.
Nerves are a sort of wiring in the body. Nerves conduct information. The nerves use electrical impulses to do this. Nerves are important, for instance, in enabling you to sense contacts and temperatures, and to move your muscles. In your case, the nerves that are required to move your muscles have been damaged.
With this condition, the person is unable to move their muscles properly. Sometimes people have very few symptoms with this condition. It may be then, for example, that the muscles get tired more quickly. The person may also have severe symptoms. They may be unable to walk alone, for example. They may also have difficulties with speaking or swallowing. This disease is hereditary. Other family members may also be affected.
