Nerves are a sort of wiring in the body. Nerves conduct information. The nerves use electrical impulses to do this. Nerves are important, for instance, in enabling you to sense contacts and temperatures, and to move your muscles.
Many processes run unconsciously in the body. These include breathing and digestion, for example. The heartbeat or blood pressure are also adjusted independently by the body. These processes are controlled by certain nerves.
There can be a variety of symptoms, depending on which nerves are affected. You may no longer be able to move certain muscles properly, for example. The skin in some areas may also feel numb, tingly or sore. Nerves that control certain bodily functions may also be affected. Then, for example, you may sweat less in the areas of skin affected.
