G72.1: Alcoholic myopathy

Your muscles are weak because they have been damaged by alcohol.

When someone drinks too much alcohol over a long period of time, the muscles can get damaged.

The severity of the symptoms may vary with this disorder. When the muscles are very weak the person is usually unable to move properly. The muscles may also be sore and keep going into spasm. It is also possible to have other symptoms. Other organs are also sometimes affected by the disorder. If the heart muscles are affected, for example, the heart sometimes stops working properly.
