G90.49: Autonomic dysreflexia, unspecified

Due to a nerve disorder, your body is reacting unusually to certain triggers.

This type of nerve disorder is usually caused by damage to the spinal cord. The spinal cord is located in the spinal column. The spinal cord is made up of nerve fibers. The brain uses the nerve fibers to exchange information with the organs, skin and muscles. If the spinal cord is damaged, some information may no longer be properly routed through the body. The body may then not react appropriately to certain stimuli. These types of stimuli may include a full bladder, a full bowel or pain, for example.

These stimuli may cause a sharp increase in blood pressure, for example. Your heart may also beat too fast or too slowly, for example. Other possible symptoms include, for example, headaches, sweating and chest tightness.

  • Z: Condition after
  • A: Excluded diagnosis
  • L: Left
  • R: Right
  • B: Both sides
