H04.4: Chronic inflammation of lacrimal passages
The tear ducts in your eye have been inflamed for a long time.
Tear fluid flows out of the eye via the tear ducts. The tear ducts begin in the inner edge of the upper and lower eyelids. In both places there is a small opening that opens into a narrow channel. The channels join and carry the tear fluid to the inside of the nose.
When the tear ducts are inflamed, swelling may occur in the eye or to the side of the nose. The swelling can persist for a long time. The area may become red and sore.
