H05.1: Chronic inflammatory disorders of orbit
Your eye socket is inflamed.
The eye socket is a bony cavity in the face part of the skull. It is cone-shaped and padded with fatty tissue. Within it, the eye is well protected. The eye muscles, the tear duct and the optic nerve are also located in the eye socket.
An inflammation of the eye socket can persist for a long time or keep recurring. When the eye socket is inflamed there can be a variety of symptoms. The area around the eyes may be sore. It may be more difficult to move one's eyes, or the movements are painful. The eyes may bulge out, and double vision is possible. The inflammation can also cause fever.
