ICD-Code I25.5: Ischaemic cardiomyopathy

You have damage to the heart muscle because it was not getting enough blood.

The heart pumps blood through the body. Inside the heart are 4 chambers. There are 2 heart atria and 2 ventricles. Both heart atria and both ventricles are separated from each other by a partition. The heart muscle is supplied with oxygen-rich blood via the coronary arteries. The coronary arteries are blood vessels that run around the outside of the heart.

If the heart muscle is damaged, it may not move properly. The cavities within the heart may also be enlarged. The damage to the heart muscle prevents the blood from pumping properly.
