J66.1: Flax-dresser disease
You have a disease in your lungs because you have inhaled dust from unprocessed flax.
You need lungs to breath. When you breathe in, the air with the oxygen passes through the airways to the lungs. The respiratory tract ends in the air sacs in the lungs. Oxygen passes into the blood in the pulmonary alveoli (air sacs). The pulmonary alveoli and the airways are surrounded by supportive tissue. This supportive tissue consists of connective tissue.
The flax contains substances that can irritate the lungs. You have symptoms in your lungs after inhaling dust from unprocessed flax. These symptoms are most severe when you have had no contact with flax for some days and then you come into contact with it once more.
