Your jaw is damaged.

The jaw consists of the upper jaw and lower jaw. The upper jaw bone is located above the mouth and forms the roof of the oral cavity. The lower jaw bone is located below and to the side of the mouth. In the center of the lower jaw is the chin. To the side, the lower jaw bone extends to below the ears. The mandibular joint is located there.

The jaw may get damaged in different ways. For example, one may have inflammation of the jaw bone or of the bone marrow inside the bone. The sheath of skin outside the jaw bone can also get inflamed. There are different reasons for inflammation in the jaw. Inflammation can involve pus forming.

Bone tissue in the bone can also die off. This can happen due to radiation treatment or medication. Bone tissue can die off if does not get a good supply of blood.
