K13.4: Granuloma and granuloma-like lesions of oral mucosa

You have one or more nodules in the mucous membrane in your mouth.

The mucous membrane is a moist skin. The whole of the oral cavity is lined with mucous membrane.

There are various reasons for nodules in the mucous membrane. For example, nodules can occur along with allergies, or after long-term inflammation. Nodules can also form after the mucous membrane has been injured. Nodules can also occur if you have high fat values in your blood. Small nodules of fat can then form in the mucous membrane.

The nodules may bleed slightly when touched. If inflammation occurs, pus can form.
