K55.0: Acute vascular disorders of intestine

The blood vessels in your abdomen are constricted or obstructed.

In your case, a blood vessel in the intestines has suddenly become obstructed or is severely constricted. That can occur for instance because of a blood clot. As a result, one part of the intestines may no longer be properly supplied with blood. The intestines can be damaged as a result.

You may have diarrhea or abdominal pain.

Smoking, being overweight or excessively high blood pressure make it more likely for the blood vessels to become narrower or be obstructed.
