K62.3: Rectal prolapse

Your last intestinal segment is protruding outward.

The last segment of the large intestine consists of 2 sections. These 2 sections are the rectum and anal canal. The feces are collected in the rectum. The feces then move through the short anal canal to the anus. Feces are excreted through the anus.

The intestines are like a tube. There is a hollow space on the inside. The intestinal wall lies around this hollow space. The intestinal wall is composed of several layers. In your case, all these intestinal wall layers are protruding outward through the anus. The membrane of the rectum may be irritated by this condition and there may be a discharge in your anus. There may also be bleeding from the anus. With this condition, the sphincter muscle in the anus also no longer closes properly. As a result, you may no longer be able to control your bowel movement.
