Your bile duct is enlarged.
The gallbladder is in the top right part of the abdomen below the liver. The liver produces bile. The bile flows through bile ducts to the gallbladder and is stored there. When needed, the bile flows through another bile duct to the intestine. There, the bile helps to digest fats.
One of your bile ducts is enlarged. The bile duct can be enlarged in a particular segment or everywhere. Of several bile ducts will be enlarged at the same time.
As a general rule, the bile duct enlargement is congenital, which means you were born with it. The wide bile duct may result in symptoms.
