Your pancreas is suddenly inflamed.
The pancreas is located in the upper abdomen. It regulates the sugar content in the blood and forms substances for digestion, for example.
If the pancreas is suddenly inflamed, you will often have pain in your upper abdomen. The pain often spreads around into your back. You may also feel nauseated and may vomit. You may also get a fever. If the inflammation is very pronounced, other organs may also be damaged. This can make you very sick.
The inflammation has damaged your pancreas. What is more, pancreatic tissue can for instance necrotize. Sometimes a cavity filled with pus will form in the pancreas.
