K86.18: Other chronic pancreatitis
You have had inflammation in your pancreas for a long time or repeatedly.
The pancreas is located in the upper abdomen. It regulates the sugar content in the blood and forms substances for digestion, for example.
If the pancreas is inflamed repeatedly or over a long period of time, then it may no longer work properly. You may have shiny diarrhea and lose weight as a result. It is also possible that the pancreas is no longer able to properly regulate the sugar level in the blood. In that case, the sugar level in the blood will rise. If the pancreas is inflamed, you may have pain in your upper abdomen. The pain can often become more severe after eating and may spread to the back.
