L53.0: Toxic erythema

Your skin is red.

The skin is made up of various layers. Beneath the top layer of the skin there are many blood vessels.

Various illnesses or harmful substances may cause the small blood vessels in the skin to dilate. As a result, more blood than usual flows through the blood vessels. The skin then appears red or bluish in the affected area.
