L53.1: Erythema annulare centrifugum
You have a condition with many bright red patches of skin.
The first sign of this skin condition is bright red patches on the skin that are slightly higher than the surrounding skin. The bright red patches heal from the center and spread outwards. Bright red rings form on the skin as a result. The edge of the bright red ring is slightly higher than the surrounding skin. The surface of the affected skin patches can be smooth. But fine scales can also appear at the edge.
The skin condition mainly appears on the upper body. However, it can also affect other areas of the body such as arms, legs and buttocks.
The exact cause of this skin condition is not yet known. However, we know that more and more cells of the body’s own immune system are to be found in the affected areas of the skin.
