M60.26: Foreign body granuloma of soft tissue, not elsewhere classified Lower leg
Nodules have formed in soft tissue in your lower leg or knee.
Soft tissue includes muscles, fatty tissue and connective tissue, for example. Immune system cells can gather around a foreign object in soft tissue. Foreign objects can include wood splinters, dusts and hairs, for example.
Certain immune cells encapsule the foreign object to render it harmless. A tough nodule then results from the foreign object that has penetrated and the immune cells. The nodule may be very small. You may also be able to touch or see it from the outside, as a thickening.
