M61.30: Calcification and ossification of muscles associated with burns Multiple sites

You have calcium deposits or ossifications in muscles in some parts of your body.

When muscle tissue gets damaged, various substances are released into the tissue. Some of these substances can cause calcium deposits in the muscles or cause bone to form. Over a period of several weeks, muscle cells can then turn to bone.

The calcium deposits or ossifications are a result of your muscles being damaged by burns.

Calcium deposits and ossifications can cause hard areas in the affected muscles. This can cause pain in that location. It may also be that you are no longer able to move the affected areas of your body properly.
