M65.93: Synovitis and tenosynovitis, unspecified Forearm
You have inflamed synovial membranes or tendon sheaths in your forearm or elbow.
Joints are encased in a joint capsule. The synovial membrane lines the inside of the joint capsule. Tendons are made up of very firm connective tissue. Tendons attach muscles to bones. A tendon sheath is a covering for the tendon. It cushions the tendon and contains a small amount of fluid. This reduces friction between the tendon and its surroundings. A tendon sheath inflammation involves inflammation of the tendon and the associated tendon sheath.
Synovial membranes and tendon sheaths can become inflamed due to pathogens, repetitive movements and long-term strain, for example.
An inflammation of synovial membranes or tendon sheaths can be painful. It may also be that you are no longer able to move the affected area of your body properly.
