M84.04: Malunion of fracture Hand

One or more broken bones in your hand have not grown back together again in the right position.

When a broken bone is healing, the broken fragments grow back together. For various reasons, however, it may be that the breaks do not grow back together in the right position. This may occur, for example, if the broken pieces are not put back into their right position after being broken. The broken pieces may also have been able to move too much during the healing process, so that they have become misaligned.

If broken bones do not grow back together in the right position, this can change the original shape of the bone. The bone may then be crooked or have a kink in it. The bone may also be too short. A change in the shape of a bone can cause problems. You may no longer be able to use the affected part of your body properly. It can also be painful. The pain particularly occurs when the affected site is subjected to pressure.
