You have a condition that involves bone changing radically.
This has affected bone in your upper arm.
Bones consist mainly of bone cells, certain proteins and various minerals. The minerals include calcium and phosphate, in particular. The bone tissue is constantly being broken down and built up again. This enables bones to adapt well to loading. There is usually a balance between the growth and breakdown of bone tissue.
With this disorder, the balance between bone being broken down and bone growing is disturbed. Initially, more bone tissue than usual is broken down. More new bone forms as a result. The new bone is less stable. As a result, the bone can become deformed more easily, or even break.
The affected bones may be deformed. The skin over the affected bone may be hotter than usual. You may also have pain.
