N49.80: Fournier’s gangrene in males

The skin around your genital organs is inflamed.

The male genital organs include the testicles and the penis. The testicles are located outside the body, and are covered by skin. That is the scrotum.

The tissue under your skin is severely inflamed. Most cases involve the scrotum and also the anus. The skin often turns black and wounds appear. A high temperature is also common. You will then usually be seriously ill.

An inflammation of the genital organs and anus may be caused by pathogens, for example, or other conditions.
