N70.1: Chronic salpingitis and oophoritis
Your fallopian tubes or ovary are inflamed.
The ovaries are part of the female genitals. There are two ovaries, one on each side. The ovaries sit low down in the abdomen. Egg cells mature in the ovaries. The egg cells can later develop into a child. The ovaries also produce various messenger substances. The two fallopian tubes go to the right and left of the ovaries towards the womb. They are like tubes and they transport the egg cells from the ovaries to the uterus.
An inflammation of the fallopian tubes or ovaries is mostly caused by pathogens.
Your fallopian tube or ovary has been inflamed for a considerable time.
Most women have pain in the lower abdomen if the fallopian tubes or ovaries are inflamed. When the fallopian tubes or ovaries are inflamed over a long period of time, this can cause various symptoms. You may, for example, repeatedly experience abdominal pains. It is also possible that you will not become pregnant.
