O08.4: Renal failure following abortion and ectopic and molar pregnancy
You have a kidney disorder after the premature ending of your pregnancy.
This type of premature end to pregnancy may involve a miscarriage or a hydatidiform mole (molar pregnancy), for example. A hydatidiform mole is when a child fails to form a fertilized egg cell, and a benign tumor develops instead. It may also be a case of a pregnancy that failed to develop in the normal area inside the womb.
There are normally 2 kidneys in the body. They filter blood and create urine. They thus help to detoxify the body. Furthermore, the kidneys regulate the blood pressure and salt content in the blood, among other things.
With your kidney disorder, your kidneys are no longer working properly. If the kidneys are no longer working properly, they can no longer perform their tasks properly. One result of this may be that your blood pressure is too high. If the kidneys stop producing enough urine, you excrete little urine. Too much fluid then collects in the body and it can gather in the legs, for example. Substances can also accumulate in the body. These substances are normally excreted in the urine. The body can be damaged by these substances.
The kidneys also produce messenger substances. If the kidneys no longer work properly, not enough messenger substances are produced. This can impact on the body in many ways. For example, the bones may become less solid. Not enough of the red blood pigment may be produced. The salt content and acid content in your blood may also change.
