O22.5: Cerebral venous thrombosis in pregnancy

One or more veins in your brain are blocked by blood clotting.

During pregnancy blood clotting can increase. Increased blood clotting can produce blood clots. If these blood clots form in veins in the brain, they can block the veins. The blood can no longer flow out of the brain properly via the blocked veins. The brain may be damaged as a result.
